Nutrition for Limited Income Audiences

Nutrition programs for limited-resource populations in Albany County, include the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP), and Eat Smart New York (ESNY).

Referrals are made for all Food Stamp applicants and recipients to trained Nutrition Program Educators who will work with individuals and groups to determine their dietary needs and goals. These programs were designed to help Food Stamp recipients improve their nutrition practices through enjoyable, interactive lessons that focus on improving dietary quality, food security, resource management as well as food safety practices. A six to eight week series of sessions are conducted at homes, community centers, work sites or other convenient locations.
